Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Nitish Agarwal on Thursday inaugurated the installation of CCTV cameras in Jhansa village to enhance the safety and security of its residents.
A total of 60 cameras have been installed by the Jhansa Gram Panchayat, with a control room set up at the gram sachivalya. The police will also receive live feeds at the Jhansa police station to monitor activities in real time.
On the occasion, SP Agarwal organised a meeting with the sarpanches of 15 villages. He said CCTV cameras play a vital role in monitoring miscreants and identifying those involved in criminal activities. He urged the sarpanches to install more high-quality, high-resolution CCTV cameras with long-term recording capabilities in their villages.
The SP also appealed to those present to monitor children’s social media activity. He cautioned children sometimes post photos or videos with weapons as a hobby, which can be exploited by individuals with criminal backgrounds. Such criminals may encourage these youths to commit offences and draw them into crime.
He advised keeping a close watch on children’s online behaviour and discouraging them from liking or sharing content related to criminals. He urged villagers to remain vigilant about the youth in their families and communities and to report any suspicious individuals to the police control room.
Speaking at the meeting, SP Agarwal said the police are working tirelessly to prevent crime and citizen cooperation is crucial to effectively curb criminal activity. He appealed to villagers to actively participate in the ongoing anti-drug campaign led by the police.
The SP also inspected the Jhansa police station, reviewing various registers and records and issued instructions to ensure their systematic maintenance.
