Kurukshetra University inks pact to boost research in waste management

The Department of Physics of Kurukshetra University (KU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Department of Chemistry, Kumaun University, Nainital, as part of the ‘Waste to wealth recycling plastic management’ project of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said new avenues of research would be created through the plastic waste-to-wealth project. This would also provide the availability of materials for civil engineering, energy storage, medicines, water purification and road construction. Under the MoU, staff, faculty and students would be able to share the benefits of research and laboratory facilities available in both universities, he said.

The MoU was signed by KUK Registrar Prof Sanjeev Sharma and Prof NG Sahu, Director of Research and Development, Nano Science and Nano Technology, Kumaun University. Physics Department Chairman Prof Fakir Chand said the MoU would prove to be a boon for the research scholars and teachers of the department.
