Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva released the April-2025 KU Newsletter (Volume-1), published by the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology (IMC&MT),

on Wednesday.

The logo of IMC&MT was also released on the occasion. Sachdeva said, ‘Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye’ was part of the logo, and meant that knowledge was the means of liberation.

The shloka was part of the Vishnu Purana, and also meant that work which did not bind was the real karma, he added.

Sachdeva said the newsletter marked a new step in the ongoing series of initiatives taken by the university. A university newsletter kept students, staff and alumni informed about important events, achievements and updates, he added, stating that it fostered a sense of community, and encouraged engagement within the university.

IMC&MT Director Maha Singh Poonia said, under the editorial leadership of the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology, faculty and students of the institute had contributed to

the newsletter.

The creativity of students of all the departments and institutes of the university had been showcased in the newsletter, he added.

In the 8-page newsletter, messages by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and the news of a lecture programme based on the Gita, a two-day seminar on Jyotirao Phule, patent-related news, and photographs of various programmes and activities have been published.

This newsletter would be sent on a monthly basis to the UGC, and all universities and higher education institutions in the country, he said.

Maha Singh Poonia said, “The monthly newsletter will include news reports, editorials, features, photography, cartoons, stories, memoirs, campus diaries, new book arrivals and monthly activities of the university.”

Registrar Dr Virender Pal was among those present at the event.
