Demanding the arrest of those involved in the murder of 21-year-old Prince, who was stabbed to death on Saturday night, the family of the deceased blocked the Kurukshetra–Kaithal road in front of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash District Civil Hospital on Sunday.

Prince, a resident of Shadipur Shahidan, was travelling on a two-wheeler with his younger brother Paras (19) when they were attacked by a group of youths near SKIET College. Prince sustained a stab wound to the chest. The accused fled after the assault. He was rushed to LNJP Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead.

A case has been registered at Sadar Thanesar police station against Manish, Ankit and another unidentified youth.

Accusing the police of inaction, the family members refused to accept the body and demanded justice. Shyam Dass, a relative of the deceased, said, “Prince used to work at a garment shop and he was brutally killed when he was returning last night. He had no enmity. The name and address of the accused have been provided to the police and yet there has been no success. Paras was also attacked and he somehow managed to escape.”

A heavy police force was deployed to maintain law and order. Former Minister of State Subhash Sudha reached the spot and pacified the agitating family members, following which the road was opened after nearly two hours. He assured the family that the accused would be arrested within two days. “Various teams of the Kurukshetra police are working on this case,” he told them. However, the family warned they would resume their protest if no arrests were made.

On the directions of SP Kurukshetra, teams of the CIA are also working on this case. The body has been handed over to the family after the postmortem.”
