The government wants to develop Kurukshetra as a tourist hub. However, going by the poor condition of roads, it seems to be a mere wish fulfillment. Hardly any road of this city is without potholes. Billowing clouds of dust raised by moving vehicles are becoming a serious health hazard for the residents. The work on the widening of the Pipli-university road is going on at a snail’s pace. Pieces of pebbles crushed underneath vehicles keep flying in all directions.

Complacency behind surge
Complacency has led to the unprecedented surge in Covid-19 cases. With this belief that vaccine will now protect them, people are violating the guidelines. This laxity and carelessness has provided ample vacuum to coronavirus to spread its wings. The situation is turning from bad to worse everyday. In Hisar, the auto-market and the Rajguru remain crowded all day. People don’t bother to wear face masks and follow social distancing. People should not lower the guard and continue to follow the guidelines.

Piped natural gas in P’kula a welcome step
A TNS report, “Panchkula set to get piped natural gas” (Chandigarh Tribune, April 15), is a welcome tiding for city residents. The existing LPG agencies give gas cylinders to consumers against a security, refundable on the surrender of the connection. We hope that the public sector — Indane, HP Gas and Bharat Gas — would ensure that their agencies do not harass consumers in refunding security when connection and cylinders are surrendered.
