In collaboration with the Labour Law Advisor’s Association, Gurugram, the Labour Department organised an awareness programme on labour welfare schemes at Select Holidays Resort Private Limited, Manesar. The chief guest on the occasion was Kushal Kataria, Additional Labour Commissioner, Gurugram NCR. Addressing hundreds of workers present at the event, he emphasised, “Awareness is the key to realising one’s rights.”
Kataria said ensuring the welfare of workers is also the responsibility of their respective organisations. He urged workers to take full advantage of the welfare schemes run by the government for their benefit.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Labour Commissioner of Gurugram Circle-2 Naveen Sharma said the Labour Department is operating nearly two dozen welfare schemes for industrial workers and employees. He highlighted the importance of equal pay for men and women workers and emphasised that institutions must act in accordance with labour laws to ensure the safety of women employees.
Labour Welfare Officer Narendra Sharma provided detailed information to the workers, stating that the Haryana Labour Welfare Board, under the Punjab Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965, offers the benefits of more than 21 welfare schemes to contributory workers and their dependents employed in industrial and commercial establishments — provided their required contributions are regularly deposited with the Board.
These schemes are now accessible online. Workers can apply through the Labour Department’s official website or at Antyodaya Saral Centres.
