Land allotment process for 12 new power substations begins

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) will establish 12 new power supply substations in the Greater Faridabad region at a cost of Rs 2,600 crore. The department has taken up the process of allotment or transfer of land in this regard.

Sources in the DHBVN here said that the new substations, having a capacity of 33 KV each, are proposed to be set up in the residential sectors of 75 to 89 located in the Greater Faridabad area of the city.

Though the project had been prepared and had been submitted about two months ago, the tenders of the work to be allotted are likely to be floated after the final approval of the state government as the funds to the tune of Rs 2,600 crore are involved, said an official of the department.

He said though the power transmission capacity of the substations is likely to be 35 MVA each and would be providing relief in matter of the supply and availability of power, the work would also involve laying the power cables and transmission equipment of various feeders in the urban pockets.

The HSVP has asked the DHBVN to inspect the land for the project in various sectors as demanded by it for the substations, it is reported.

Meanwhile, according to the department authorities, the Union Government has also approved funds to the tune of Rs 3,638.21 crore for system modernisation and smart distribution in Faridabad and Gurguram districts under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

An initiative of the Union Government, the scheme aims at enhancing the financial viability and operational efficiency of the power distribution sector. It includes works of smart metering, installation of prepaid smart meters and other related tasks, said an official.

Jitender Singh Dhull, Superintending Engineer, DHBVN, said that the work of all the projects connected with the setting up of the new substations and the implementation of the RDSS scheme have been launched as per the directions of the state government.
