Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University in Rai, Sonepat, organised a special programme on Wednesday to mark Constitution Day. The event aimed to enhance awareness among students, research scholars and faculty members about the values, ideals and objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.
The historic resolve adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949 — “In our Constituent Assembly, this twenty-sixth day of November 1949, we do hereby adopt, enact and give to ourselves this Constitution” — was especially remembered. The programme was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Devinder Singh.
Registrar Ashutosh Mishra alongside teaching and non-teaching staff and students, offered floral tributes to the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution and took a pledge to remain committed to constitutional principles.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Mishra said the Constitution of India has not only strengthened the nation’s democratic framework but has also established global values such as justice, liberty, equality and fraternity as the cornerstone of national life. He noted that the Constitution is not merely a legal document but the soul of the nation, reminding every citizen of their rights and duties.
He added November 26, 1949, marked a golden chapter in India’s history, when the Constituent Assembly — after extensive deliberations, debates and consultation and with national interest foremost — adopted a Constitution regarded as one of the most comprehensive and dynamic in the world.
In the concluding session, Lalit Kumar, OSD to the Vice-Chancellor, expressed gratitude to all those present and said Constitution Day is not just an official observance but a reaffirmation of the nation’s commitment to the values established by the framers of the Constitution with diligence and foresight. Rajesh Kumar, Dr Sukhvinder Singh, Dr Amit Guleria, Dr Jyoti Rana, Deputy Registrar Dr Ramphool, Sudhir and others participated in the programme.
