Karnal, September 25
To save electricity and reduce dependency on manual operation of streetlights, the Karnal Smart City Ltd (KSCL), a special purpose vehicle looking after the smart city project, is going to replace around 25,000 conventional streetlights with the energy-efficient LED lights.
The technical bid has been opened and verification is going on, while the financial bid will be opened in a week. The authorities are hopeful that the work will start in a month and the firm will be given a deadline to execute the work within 30 weeks, while the maintenance timing would be five years.
“The tender process of replacement and retrofitment of entire street lighting system with energy efficient smart LED luminaries is underway and we are hopeful the work will commence in a month,” said Nishant Kumar Yadav, CEO, KCSL.
These lights would have the facility of automatically switching off during the day and on at night. Besides, energy meter will be installed to record and analyse energy consumption as well as to prevent theft cases.
Yadav said they wanted to reduce dependency on manual operation of streetlights so they had kept a provision of installing automatic switch on/off option. It will save electricity and minimise complaints related to streetlights remaining on during the day.
He said 200 triggers would be installed at various places and if any fault occurred, an alert message would be delivered to the employee concerned for rectification.
Yadav said the contractor would be given half an hour to rectify one complaint and if not done in the stipulated time, he would be penalised as per the delay timing.
He said there would be a complete supervising and monitoring control and a database would be created for analysis for future reference. “It is a long pending project of the Karnal Municipal Corporation, but got delayed due to various reasons. Now, this project has been kept in Smart City Mission,” Yadav added.
