Light rain brings down temperature in state
Most parts of the state witnessed light to moderate rain, bringing a significant dip in maximum temperatures. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several areas recorded notable temperature variations.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded at Narnaul (22.8°C). Rain was observed in multiple locations, with Ambala receiving the highest rainfall (4.0 mm), followed by Rohtak (1.6 mm). Yamunanagar recorded 1.0 mm rainfall.
The ongoing showers occurred reportedly due to Western Disturbance, which has caused widespread precipitation since Thursday.
Experts from Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar, stated that the rain was beneficial for wheat and mustard crops, but strong winds might lead to lodging, which could cause slight damage. Dr OP Bishnoi, a wheat specialist, advised farmers to avoid additional irrigation at this stage.
Meteorologists predict that rain will continue until March 1, with strong winds affecting northern and eastern Haryana. Maximum temperatures may remain around 20°C, while minimum could drop to 14°C. Farmers have been advised to stay updated with weather forecasts as further fluctuations are possible, the IMD said.
