Rajya Sabha member Kartikeya Sharma said on the lines of the Haryana Government, the Punjab Government should also announce giving minimum support price (MSP) on 24 crops.
The Rajya Sabha member said the farmers protesting at the Haryana-Punjab interstate borders were our brothers, the government was sensitive towards the farmers and their demands and the matter would be resolved soon. Sharma was here to attend a district-level good governance day event in Ambala City.
While speaking to mediapersons, he further said, “Haryana is the only state in the country to give minimum support price on 24 crops. It was a long pending demand. The agitation started from Punjab, while the Haryana Government has given the facility and announced that they would give MSP on 24 crops, Punjab is not giving the MSP on 24 crops. Haryana has done its job and the Chief Minister has fulfilled his promise. Like Haryana, Punjab should also announce MSP on 24 crops. The Opposition parties, including Congress and AAP, have been adopting double standards and their real face has been exposed.”
Earlier while attending the event, MP Sharma said, “The Centre and state governments have been following the path shown by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He did not only establish the ideals of patriotism but also laid the foundation of a truly developed India. For him, good governance meant good basic education. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was started during his tenure and it was also successful. By good governance he meant the progress of villages and the people living there. He presented an example in front of us that showed us the way of how good governance should be done.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a new chapter, where the Prime Minister keeps himself as Pradhan Sevak and works for the public welfare. The government is working with the spirit of Antyodaya and the double engine government has been ensuring welfare of all sections of society. The road infrastructure, and connectivity has been strengthened. The government has not only launched various welfare schemes but has also ensured that the real beneficiaries get the benefits of the schemes. The Haryana Government has been giving jobs on merit”, he added.
On the occasion, the MP honoured the district officials of various departments for excellent work. SDM Ambala Cantonment Satinder Siwach, District Elementary Education Officer Sudhir Kalra, Lead District Manager Punit Kumar, and Deputy Director Agriculture Dr Jasvinder Saini were among the officials who were honoured on Wednesday.
