A tragic incident took place in Sirsa’s Desumalkana village on Monday, where a 50-year-old lineman, Dalbir Singh from Kalanwali, died due to an electric shock while repairing a faulty power supply.
Dalbir, posted at Taruana village, was called to assist while restoring power at Desumalkana. While working on two transformers with two other employees, he came in contact with a live wire. The villagers rushed him to a private hospital at Kalanwali, from where he was referred to the government hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
This is the second lineman’s death in Sirsa district within a week. Just a few days earlier, 42-year-old lineman Gurvinder Singh lost his life due to electrocution while repairing electricity at Khokhar village in the Dabwali area.
After Monday’s incident, employees’ union and officials reached the site for inquiry.
