Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has said the state government is prioritising the implementation of Lakhpati Didi scheme to economically empower women. He was chairing a review meeting here today to assess the progress of the Sankalp Patra.
Saini directed officials to link as many women as possible to the scheme and make them self-reliant. He also instructed officials to organise special camps under the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana and ensure easy access to bank loans for women beneficiaries to support self-employment initiatives.
The meeting reviewed the sankalps of Development and Panchayats, Rural Development, Women and Child Development and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs departments. Earlier, he reviewed the progress of nine other departments.
It was informed that over 1.06 lakh women in the state had been empowered under the Lakhpati Didi scheme. In the current financial year, the process of enabling over 25,000 women to become Lakhpati Didis was underway.
Reviewing the 'Har Ghar, Har Grihini’ scheme, Saini said special camps should be organised in villages.
During the meeting, it was informed that with the objective of providing safe housing for working women, the government planned to establish women’s hostels in every district. In the first phase, construction was underway in Panchkula, Faridabad, Gurugram and Sonepat.
While reviewing the Saksham Anganwadi scheme, the CM directed officials to upgrade 2,000 anganwadi centres to Saksham Anganwadi centres and to ensure facilities are provided at the earliest. Regarding the construction of community centres for Scheduled Castes, the CM instructed that the buildings should be equipped with modern amenities, such as solar energy systems and air-conditioning.
