Liquor bottles seized from overturned canter, case registered

Kurukshetra, December 23
The Kurukshetra police have registered a case against unidentified persons in connection with liquor boxes recovered from a canter that had overturned near Thana toll plaza on December 20.
As per the information available, the Gumthla Garhu police post had received information that a canter had overturned near Thana toll plaza.
The policemen observed that two different number plates were used on the canter. While in the front, the number was RJ01-GA-1495, the number on the rear was 0613.
The container was locked and there was a smell of liquor as many boxes containing liquor bottles had got damaged due to the accident. It is being suspected that there were over 18,000 liquor bottles in the canter.
In-charge Gumthala Garhu police post, SI Nafe Singh, said, “The driver managed to flee after the accident and no one turned up to claim the canter. Later, the canter was unlocked and several liquor boxes were found. No licence, permit or documents regarding the liquor being transported were found from the canter. A large number of bottles got damaged. The remaining bottles are being counted and the exact number of bottles is yet to be ascertained.”
A case has been registered under Section 420, 473, 120-B of IPC and 61 of Excise Act at Pehowa police station.
