Lobana takes oath as Ambala Zila Parishad chairperson
Ambala DC Ajay Singh administers the oath of office to Zila Parishad Chairperson
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer today administered the oath of office to newly elected Ambala Zila Parishad chairperson Makhan Singh Lobana at the ADC office.
Parishad CEO Gagandeep Singh, former Minister of State Aseem Goel, BJP district chief Mandeep Rana, Zila Parishad members and several other BJP leaders were present on the occasion.
After assuming the charge, Makhan Singh thanked the BJP leadership for trusting him and vowed to fulfil the responsibility. “Due to a pending court case, the development work have come to a halt, but now with the guidance of the senior leaders, efforts will be made to expedite the work under the Zila Parishad and meet the expectations of people. I assure all members that equal grants will be given in all the wards so that developmental works can be resumed,” he said.
Former MoS Aseem Goel said Makhan Singh is also a social worker and his taking charge will undoubtedly accelerate development work under the Zila Parishad and open new avenues for development.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has a special affection for Ambala and under his leadership, development works are being carried out in Ambala as well as other districts of the state, he added. There is no dearth of funds for development works under the BJP government.
District BJP president Mandeep Rana said the other Zila Parishad members, having faith in the policies of the Central and State governments, had unanimously elected Makhan Singh Lobana.
Road to Zila Parishad post
In 2022, Rajesh Kumar had won the election from Ward 1 as an Independent candidate, but joined the Bharatiya Janata Party later and became Zila Parishad chairperson. However, just before the Assembly election, he switched to the Congress. A no-confidence motion was passed against him and he was unseated.
After quitting the Indian National Lok Dal, Makhan Singh had joined the BJP in 2019. He joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2022 and won the Zila Parishad election. However, Makhan Singh quit the AAP in 2024 before the Assembly election and rejoined the BJP last month. A Zila Parishad member from Ward 9,
