The National Lok Adalat held at the district courts settled 42,164 cases here today. These were organised under the guidance of the Haryana State Legal Services Authority and the National Legal Services Authority.
Sandeep Garg, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Faridabad, and Ritu Yadav, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, DLSA, said 17 Benches were constituted for the purpose.
The Benches were headed by judicial officers, including District and Sessions Judge Sandeep Garg , Additional Sessions Judge Amrit Singh and Jyoti Lamba, Vijay James (Additional Principal Judge, family court), Jitendra Singh (Chief Judicial Magistrate), and Judicial Magistrates First Class Naveen Kumar, Anil Kumar, Saurabh Sharma, Amitendra Singh, Rajat Kumar Kanaujia, Deepak Yadav, Komal, Prerna Arya, Tarun Chaudhary, Himani Sagar, Priyanka Verma and Neetika Bhardwaj.
While a total of 50,837 cases were referred to the Lok Adalat, 42,164 were settled through mutual settlement. These include 60 cases of accidents, 6,013 petty criminal matters, 1,717 cheque-bounce cases, 336 electricity-related disputes, 24,636 traffic challans, 10 labour disputes, 381 matrimonial disputes, 4,054 civil cases, 342 bank recovery matters and 4,615 revenue cases.
Ritu Yadav said the Lok Adalat saw a significant inclination towards settling traffic challan cases. The decisions taken by the adalats were final, binding, and non-appealable up to the Supreme Court. Additionally, court fees were refunded, and parties saved both time and money.
In neighbouring Palwal district, the adalats settled 2,669 cases.
