Love should not be confined to a single day: Anil Vij
Haryana Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij has urged people not to limit love to a single day and suggested celebrating Radha-Krishna Day instead of Valentine’s Day to express true and eternal love.
In a statement issued today, the BJP leader emphasised that Radha-Krishna’s love represents sacrifice, devotion and dedication, making it more than just a one-day celebration.
“Love should not be confined to a particular day but should be felt every day in its pure and sacred form,” Vij stated.
“If you have love in your heart and want to express it, it should not be on Valentine’s Day but on Radha-Krishna Day. That is the eternal love and if you believe in it, the divine gift of love will be with you throughout the year,” he added.
The minister also questioned the significance of Valentine’s Day, asserting that most people are unaware of its origins.
“90% of people don’t even know who Valentine was. Meanwhile, Radha-Krishna live in every soul,” Vij said.
Earlier in the day, he took to his X account (formerly Twitter), reiterating his stance: "If you have love and want to express it, it should not be on Valentine’s Day. It should be on ‘Radha-Krishna’ Day. Their eternal love gives heavenly ashirvad as a gift all year round.”
Vij has previously spoken out against the Western concept of Valentine’s Day, advocating for Indian traditions that celebrate love as a lifelong journey rather than a fleeting moment.
