Lower engines indulged in scams, upper ones shielded them: Deepender
The entry of Congress as well as BJP bigwigs spiced up the campaign for municipal elections in Rohtak on Saturday.
BJP's Haryana unit president Mohan Lal Badoli, who was in Rohtak today, asserted that the BJP would win the municipal elections hands down and form a triple-engine government.
"It's a one-sided election and we are going to win hands down. The BJP is all set to form a triple-engine regime by recording an emphatic victory in the municipal elections across the state," the BJP leader claimed while addressing a news conference.
Questioned about former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's allegations regarding lack of drinking water and other amenities, Badoli remarked that instead of making vague allegations, Hooda should specify which colonies he is talking about.
The ruling party leader asserted that the BJP, which had won Assembly seats in Jind and Sonepat districts in the recent elections, would win in Rohtak district in the next elections.
Taking a jibe over the triple-engine claim of the BJP leadership, Congress MP from Rohtak Deepender Singh Hooda remarked that the lower engines (municipal corporations) of the BJP's triple-engine format indulged in various scams during their previous terms, while the upper engines (Centre and state governments) shielded them.
“Rohtak wants a ‘majboot’ Mayor and not a ‘majboor’ one," quipped Deepender as he kicked off the campaign to seek votes for the party's candidates at Rohtak on Saturday.
Alleging that corruption was at peak under the current regime, the Congress MP appealed to the voters to teach the BJP leaders a lesson in these elections in order to check their arrogance.
