Hisar: Dr Sushila Mann, scientist and head, Department of Animal Biotechnology, Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS), Hisar, has received the Panjabrao Deshmukh Outstanding Female Scientist Award 2021 on the 94th Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. This award was given by Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, at a function organised at the National Agricultural Science Complex, New Delhi. Mann was given this award for his outstanding research work in the biotechnological field of veterinary science. Professor Dr Vinod Kumar Verma, Vice-Chancellor of the university, congratulated her on this achievement.
Placement drive conducted
Yamunanagar: A placement drive was held at the Guru Nanak Khalsa Group of Educational Institutions, Yamunanagar, by HDFC Sales Pvt Ltd. Dr (Major) Harinder Singh Kang, principal of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, welcomed the gathering. Dr Rajinder Singh Vohra, head, Training and Employment Cell of the college, introduced those participating in the drive. The principal further said seven students were selected. Randeep Singh Jauhar, president, governing body of the Guru Nanak Khalsa Group of Educational Institutions, Yamunanagar, congratulated the students on their selection.
Vice-Chancellor plants saplings
Rohtak: The Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Professor Rajbir Singh, planted saplings at the All- India Jat Heroes’ Memorial College (AIJHMC) and the university girls hostel complex on Sunday as part of the MDU’s plantation drive programme. The Vice- Chancellor gave a clarion call to plant saplings and protect the environment. He said the university, being a green mentor institution, would spread the message of environmental conservation and tree plantation amongst the masses. Haryana Governor and MDU Chancellor, Bandaru Dattatreya had inaugurated this plantation programme on the university campus on July 14.
Harela festival celebrated
Karnal: The ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, celebrated Harela festival at Oxygen Park by planting peepal trees. This festival was inaugurated by Professor Dr AK Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay University of Veterinary Science and Cow Research Institute, Mathura. Dr Srivastava said Harela symbolised a new harvest and rainy season and was now being related to the slogan of “Save environment”. He said the peepal trees not only provided oxygen, but also helped in preserving soil.
