Macrame workshop held at CDLU
A two-day macramé workshop was recently organised by the Department of Fashion Design and Lifestyle Technology at the University School for Graduate Studies, Chaudhary Devilal University (CDLU), Sirsa. The workshop, led by expert Saroj Bala, introduced students to the art of creating various decorative items using macramé techniques. During the event, students learned to craft items such as mirrors, belts, bags, pots and other home décor products.
Bala highlighted the significance of entrepreneurship in today’s economy, urging students to consider self-employment opportunities. She shared her expertise in creating macramé products and explained how mastering these skills could pave the way for small-scale businesses.
The workshop was well received, with students actively participating and showcasing their creativity by crafting a wide range of items. Professor Sushil Kumar, dean of the University School for Graduate Studies, emphasised the importance of such workshops in fostering the overall development of students by providing practical knowledge and hands-on learning from industry experts.
Faculty members, Dr Gurpreet Kaur, Dr Beant Kaur and Dr Rupinder Kaur, also participated in the workshop. They noted that the department regularly organises such workshops to keep students updated with the latest trends and practical knowledge in their field. All students from the department attended the event.
