Major Bhanu Pratap of Jagadhari played for Haryana in the national-level basketball competition held in Margao, Goa, recently and helped Haryana secure the third place.

Pratap hails from Marwa Kalan village of Yamunanagar district and is currently posted in Binnaguri of West Bengal.

Pratap is an alumnus of SD Public School, Jagadhari. After completing BTech in Computer Science from Haryana Engineering College, Jagadhri, Bhanu joined Infosys as a senior manager. He cleared Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination and got commissioned in 2018 from National Defence Academy and joined the Army as a Lieutenant.

His father Somesh Chauhan said Pratap was interested in sports since childhood.

He said Pratap’s coach Dr Gopal Singh Rana had a major role in Pratap’s success, adding that he has been selected in India’s international basketball team for the championship to be held in Taiwan in July this year.
