Major crackdown on heroin smuggling in Sirsa, four held

Results in recovery of over 48 grams of substance

In Sirsa district, the police have intensified their crackdown on heroin smuggling, arresting four persons in separate operations across Dabwali, Sirsa city and Ellenabad. The actions were carried out based on tip offs and resulted in the recovery of over 48 grams of heroin.

In the first case, Dabwali police arrested Suresh Kumar, alias Shikni from Ganga village, with 17.30 grams of heroin. Acting on a tip off near Goriwala Chowk on May 30, ASI Rajendra Prasad and his team chased and caught the suspect who tried to flee. During the search conducted in the presence of DSP Kapil Ahlawat, heroin was found in his pocket. A case was registered at Sadar Dabwali police station under the NDPS Act, and ASI Sukhdev Singh is investigating.

In another operation, two youths were arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Cell from different parts of Sirsa city. The first arrest was made at Shakti Nagar where 15 grams of heroin was found on Yogesh Kumar, alias Sonu, of New Housing Board Colony. He tried to run when he saw the police, but was quickly caught.

The second suspect, Charanjit Singh, alias Nikka, from Jalaana village, was arrested near the old power house on Barnala Road with 7.84 grams of heroin. He too tried to escape towards the bus stand but was apprehended. Cases have been filed under the NDPS Act at the Civil Lines police station.

In a third incident, Roshan Lal from Bhavdeen village was arrested by the Ellenabad police near the village bus stand on the national highway. He was riding a bike and tried to flee after spotting the police. After a search was conducted on him, 8.16 grams of heroin was recovered. A case has been registered at the Ding police station.

Police officials said that further investigation was ongoing to trace the drug supply network. The arrested suspects would be interrogated for information about other members involved in drug trafficking. Legal action is being taken against everyone connected to these networks.
