A major fire broke out in a textile unit ‘Weave Arts’ on Chautala Road in Sewah on Wednesday. The fire also engulfed the adjoining factory. No loss of life was reported.
Labourers working in the factory ran out and informed the Fire Department. The flames engulfed the ready products, bathmats, latex compound, machinery, fibres, TPE chemical, polyester yarn and fabric and foam chemical drums and other goods. The building was also damaged. The fire also spread to the adjoining factory RN Fibre.
A short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the fire. However, the actual reason would become clear after a thorough investigation. Fireman Amit Kumar said 18 fire tenders were pressed into service. It took around nine hours to control the flames, but firefighters were on the job to douse the flames till this report was filed.
