Jind SP among 33 IPS officers transferred in Haryana

Sumit Kumar, Jind SP, who has been facing allegations of sexual harassment of women police constables, has been transferred as SP (Railways), Ambala.

Sumit Kumar's transfer came as part of the police reshuffle on Wednesday in which a total of 36 police officers, including 33 IPS officers, were transferred.

The Haryana Commission for Women, on Tuesday summoned Sumit Kumar to appear before it.

Later, Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia, in a communication to the Haryana Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, demanded that the IPS officer be transferred from his post to ensure a fair inquiry into the allegations against him.

A key change is the posting of Alok Kumar Roy, former Director General (DG) of Human Rights and Litigation, to DG Railways and Commando.

Another notable officer affected by the reshuffle is Ajay Singhal, ADGP Railways and Commando.
