State Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said improvements were being made to make the Panchayati Raj system more efficient, transparent and accountable.

Gram panchayats with more than 5,000 population, as per the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP), will be awarded Rs 11 lakh to Rs 51 lakh and gram panchayats with less than 5,000 population will be awarded Rs 5 lakh to Rs 31 lakh at the state, district and block levels, which was announced by the CM on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day in Panchkula recently.

The minister said under the Mukhyamantri Jagrut Gram Puraskar Yojana, awards would be given to those gram panchayats which would excel in socio-economic parameters, like education, health, self-employment, water conservation, women leadership, agricultural productivity, digital connectivity and sustainable infrastructure.
