The police had registered a case against him under Section 506 of the IPC after he circulated a WhatsApp message to demand a lie detector test of Khattar and Vij to ascertain whether they had ordered the police to open fire on the protesters, which led to the death of Shubhkaran Singh, one of the protesters.

In the message, Barar had said if the two ministers did not undergo the test, he would be forced to kill them. SHO Sandeep Singh said he was produced in court and was later granted bail, he added.
