The fast track special court (exclusive under the POCSO Act) of Additional District and Sessions Judge Narender on Monday awarded 20-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a man for raping a 15-year-old girl. The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 55,000 on him.

Special Public Prosecutor Vijender Singh said the incident was reported to the city police on November 29, 2023.

The father of the victim, in his complaint to the city police, said his 15-year-old daughter went somewhere with a boy under suspicious circumstances on the morning on November 29.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case, and began a probe into the matter. The police recovered the girl and arrested the boy after he brought her to Sonepat on December 5.

The accused has been identified as Sagar of Jhajjar district.

The victim disclosed that the accused took her to his maternal aunt’s house in Bhiwani, and kept her there for 3-4 days. The accused raped her.

On the basis of evidence, the court on Monday held him guilty and awarded him 20-year RI, and slapped a fine of Rs 55,000 on him.
