The deceased, identified as Om Prakash, was a clerk at Jhajjar depot of Haryana Roadways. The exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. The Beri police have registered a case of murder against an unidentified person.

The crime was perpetrated when Om Prakash and his wife were sleeping on the rooftop of the house. His wife got up on hearing the sound of her husband but she did not spot any assailant due to the darkness. Injured Om Prakash was rushed to the civil hospital in Jhajjar where he was declared brought dead.

Jaibhagwan, SHO, Beri police station, said as per relatives, Om Prakash did not have enmity with anyone. “An axe used in the crime has been seized from the spot,” he added. — TNS
