“We met Kanwaljit in 2020. He demanded Rs 20 lakh for sending us to Canada. We gave him Rs 4.67 lakh in different installments and our documents. The accused got them interviewed in Canada through online mode, but he didn’t send them to Canada,” the complainant told the police.

He said that now the accused was neither sending them abroad nor returning their money.

He added that when they demanded their money back, he threatened them with dire consequences.
