A 28-year-old woman died today after she was allegedly forced by her husband to sleep outside the house at night in the cold weather conditions in a Farrukhnagar village here. The victim was allegedly being harassed for dowry.

The deceased has been identified as Poonam, a native of Rewari, while her husband has been identified as Mangat Ram. In his complaint, Poonam’s brother Hemant Kumar said that Mangat used to thrash Poonam under the influence of alcohol.

An FIR on the charge of murder has been registered against Mangat at the Farrukhnagar police station. A senior police officer said they would take action as per the law after verifying the facts.
