The trouble started on Tuesday night when Sanjay’s wife, Sumitra, called the police helpline (112) and informed them that her husband was drunk and creating a disturbance. The police arrived at their home and took Sanjay to Mangali police chowki.

His family claims he was kept in custody overnight without electricity or water. On Wednesday morning, the family was informed that Sanjay had died. His son, Amit, blamed the police for negligence and mistreatment, saying that his father was kept in an inhumane environment.

Angry villagers locked the police chowki and staged a protest, demanding action against the guilty police personnel.

The Hisar SP, Shashank Singh, visited the scene and reviewed the situation. A forensic team also collected evidence, and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination. Bhupender Singh, son of Nalwa MLA Randhir Singh Panihar, also met the grieving family and assured them that they would get justice.
