Man gets 10-yr jail term over dowry death

Additional Sessions Judge Sudeep Goel has sentenced a man to 10 years of imprisonment in connection with a dowry death case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict, Harish of Malikpur Bangar village of Yamunanagar district.
In the case of the non-payment of the fine, the convict would further undergo simple imprisonment for a period of two years.
On the complaint of Lal Singh of Jainpur Sadaan village of Karnal district, a case was registered against Harish on April 17, 2022.
The complainant told the police that his daughter Poonam was married to Harish and they came to know that Poonam was suffering from a stomach ache and admitted to a hospital.
In his complaint, he told the police that when they reached Poonam’s in-laws house, they were shocked to see her body.
He said there were rope marks on her neck and his daughter was tortured for dowry.
