The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Ashwani Kumar sentenced a person to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on the convict.
On June 6, 2020, a complaint was received at the Sector 40 police station regarding the rape of a 15-year-old girl. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
During investigation, the police arrested the suspect, identified as Raman, alias Sonu, a native of Aauradauli village in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh. The police produced him in a court, which sent him to judicial custody.
The police collected all necessary evidence and witnesses against the accused and presented them in the court.
“On the basis of the chargesheet filed by the Gurugram police, the Court of Additional Sessions Judge Ashwani Kumar on Friday sentenced the accused to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on the convict,” said a police spokesperson.
