The court of Nuh District Sessions Judge Sushil Kumar has sentenced a convict to 5-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 in a case of mobile snatching.

In case he does not pay the fine, the culprit will have to undergo an additional punishment of one year.

According to the police, the convict has been identified as Arshad, a resident of Madina colony in Punhana.

The incident took place at the vegetable market in Punhana on April 8, 2022, when the accused, along with an accomplice, snatched a mobile phone from Hakam, a resident of Badah Dudoli village.

The accused were on a bike that did not have a number plate, and fled after snatching the mobile phone.

An FIR was registered at the Punhana city police station in this regard.

According to a Nuh police spokesperson, during initial investigation, the police had collected important evidence, including the stolen mobile phone, which proved to be decisive in the case.

During the hearing, the complainant retracted his statements, but the prosecution argued the case strongly on the basis of the recovered mobile phone and other evidence.
