Man gets life term for killing wife, 2 children
Accused had killed them because he was not able to go abroad due to financial constraints
The court of District and Sessions Judge, Kurukshetra, has sentenced a man to rigorous imprisonment for life and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for killing his wife and two minor children in Kurukshetra.
The court held accused Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Jhansa, guilty and sentenced him in the triple murder case.
The accused had killed them because he was not able to go abroad due to financial constraints. He had also tried to commit suicide but he was saved. The deceased were identified as Rina and her two minor children daughter Gursifat alias Jiya (4) and son Kriyansh.
As per the Kurukshetra police spokesperson, on December 7, 2023 information was received at the Jhansa police station that a woman and her two minor children were found dead under mysterious circumstances, while the husband of the deceased woman had tried to commit suicide by hanging himself. In his complaint, Rina’s brother Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Patiala, stated that Rina got married to Rakesh in 2018 and the couple had two children. All went right for the first three years and then Rina’s in-laws started pressuring her to bring money as Rakesh wanted to go to America.
The complainant further stated that they were in no position to give money due to which Rakesh and his family members used to have quarrel with Rina. On December 7, 2023, they came to know that the health conditions of Rina and both the children had deteriorated and they were taken for treatment, but when they reached their residence, the woman and her children were found dead. Sanjeev had further stated that Rakesh tried to commit suicide to safeguard himself.
The Kurukshetra police had booked the husband and in-laws of the deceased woman under murder charges. Rakesh had confessed to his crime and on December 13, the Kurukshetra police had arrested Rakesh Kumar.
On Friday, the court of District and Sessions Judge sentenced Rakesh Kumar to rigorous imprisonment for life under Section 302 of IPC, and also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
