The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge has sentenced a man to life imprisonment in connection with a murder case.
The court held Angrej Singh, a resident of Madudan village, guilty in the murder case of Jagdish Chand, and also slapped a fine of Rs 85,000 on him.
A Kurukshetra police spokesman said “On October 2022, a woman in her complaint to the police stated that she along with her husband Jagdish Chand and their two nephews Gurvinder Singh and Ajay had gone to their fields to pay obeisance at a Peer. Her husband Jagdish Chand had a land dispute with Buta Ram and his sons Jai Bhagwan and Angrej Singh. Meanwhile, Jai Bhagwan and Angrej Singh also reached there and began beating them up. Jai Bhagwan stabbed Jagdish Chand and Gurwinder Singh while Angrej Singh attacked Ajay with a sharp-edged weapon. Jagdish Chand succumbed to his injuries on his way to the PGI, Chandigarh.
A case was registered at Shahabad police station and the accused were arrested. While Jai Bhagwan was already sentenced to life imprisonment in January this year, Angrej Singh has now been sentenced to life imprisonment.
The court held Angrej Singh guilty under Sections 302, 307, 201 and 506 of the IPC. The sentences will run concurrently.
