Man held for kidnapping 10-yr-old to meet his wife
The police have arrested a man who kidnapped a 10-year-old boy from his wife’s neighbour’s house in a bid to meet his wife. The police successfully rescued the child and returned him safely to his family. An FIR was registered at the DLF Phase 3 police station.
The accused, identified as Varun (25), a resident of Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh and currently living in Greater Noida, had been released on bail in August 2023 after being arrested in 2021 for the kidnapping of a three-year-old child.
According to the complaint filed by the child’s father, the boy had gone to play in the park on Thursday evening; however, he failed to return home. When the father went in search of his son, he received a call from the kidnapper, who claimed to have the child with him. The caller demanded a meeting with the man’s wife, who lived in the same neighbourhood as the accused. The father’s surprise at the demand prompted him to contact the police.
Following the complaint, an FIR for kidnapping was registered at the DLF Phase 3 police station on Thursday night. During the investigation, police arrested the accused on Friday at the Sirhaul border and rescued the child.
Varun revealed he lived in Noida and his wife worked in Gurugram, residing near the child whom he kidnapped. The accused had reportedly been denied a meeting with his wife and in an attempt to force a meeting, he kidnapped the child.
