Man held for raping cousin

In a shocking incident, a Class X student was allegedly raped by her 42-year-old cousin. He reportedly tied her up to overpower her. He threatened to kill her if she informed anyone about the incident.

She kept mum for some days, but finally told her teacher, who informed her family. They filed a complaint on Friday evening and the accused was arrested on Saturday.

According to the complaint filed by the mother of the 15-year-old, her sister-in-law was unwell and she sent her daughter to her home to cook food. She reported that her sister-in-law’s son targeted her daughter when she was alone.

“My daughter was cooking when the accused grabbed her. He tied her hands and legs and raped her. He threatened to kill her if she told anybody,” the mother of the victim told the police.

“After my daughter went to school, some students came home and asked me to go with them because her teacher wanted to meet me. The teacher told me that the son of my sister-in-law had raped my daughter,” she told the police.

An FIR was registered under the POCSO Act and the accused arrested. “The accused confessed his crime. He was on Saturday produced in a local court, which sent him in judicial custody,” said police spokesperson Subhash Bokan.
