When she returned home after about five minutes, a man wearing a helmet pointed a gun at her, and entered the home, where the complainant was sleeping.

The accused demanded money from them, and threatened to kill them.

When the complainant pushed the accused, he attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon, and fled the spot on his motorcycle.

Taking serious note of the incident, SP Bhupender Singh handed over the case to a CIA-1 team.

The team collected CCTV camera footage of around 100 cameras installed at various places, and also activated sources.

The team nabbed the accused from the Sector 24 road on Sunday.

“During preliminary investigation, it is revealed that Manoj Malik, the accused, owned a textile factory. He used to partake in online gambling, and had lost Rs 90 lakh within the last three-four months. He was under debt,” said CIA-1 In-charge SI Sandeep.

The complainant was his friend, and the accused chalked up a plan to clear his debt by looting the exporter with an air gun.

He entered the house by scaling the wall after covering his face with a piece of cloth and a helmet.

The police have recovered an air gun, a motorcycle and a helmet from the possession of the accused.
