Man held with heroin worth Rs18 lakh in Yamunanagar

Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesman, said the accused was identified as Irfan of Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. He said after registration of an FIR, the accused was produced before a court on Sunday, where he was sent to four days police custody.
“Working under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria, a team of anti-narcotics cell has seized heroin worth about Rs 18 lakh from Irfan,” said Chamkaur Singh.
Arun Kumar, in-charge of the anti-narcotics cell, said they received information that a drug supplier would come on a bike from Uttar Pradesh with a large consignment of drugs and sell it in Yamunanagar district.
He said based on the information, a team comprising Sub-Inspector Satpal Singh, Sonu, Jasvir Singh, Jaipal, Vimal and Lalit was formed.
He further said the team went to the spot and began checking vehicles by putting up a barricade near Tigri and Dusani villages.
He said on seeing the police team, the accused began running, but the team caught him. He added that the accused was identified as Irfan and 271 gm of heroin was recovered from his possession in the presence of Duty Magistrate.
