The CIA-1 unit of Ambala police has arrested a man and recovered five country-made weapons and two live cartridges from his possession. The accused has been identified as Zaid, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

He was currently residing in Puja Vihar, Ambala Cantonment. A case has been registered under the Arms Act at the Mahesh Nagar police station. He was produced before a court, which remanded him to five days of police custody. CIA-1 in-charge Harjinder Singh said that on April 17, acting on a tip-off that a person dealing in illegal weapons was present near the flyover in Manglai village, a raid was conducted and Zaid was nabbed.

During the search, five country-made firearms and two live cartridges were recovered from his bag. The police said that during the remand period, they would investigate further to identify the intended recipients of the weapons and also gather information about Zaid’s previous customers.
