Sirsa: In a special operation targeting fugitives and individuals wanted in various cases, the Odhan police arrested a man accused of raping a minor under the POCSO Act. The accused, identified as Kabul Singh, alias Ghalu, hails from Bhagi Bandar, Bathinda district, Punjab. Inspector Anil Kumar, the officer-in-charge of the Odhan police Station said that the case was registered on August 1, 2024, based on a complaint by the victim’s father, who alleged that his minor daughter had been lured away by the accused. The investigation, led by Sub-Inspector Raj Kaur, resulted in the arrest of Kabul Singh, who was then presented in a court and subsequently sent to the Sirsa jail.
Randomisation of EVMs begins
Sirsa: To ensure fairness in the upcoming elections, the process of randomising electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPATs) was conducted in the presence of party representatives at the Mini-Secretariat in Sirsa. DC Shantanu Sharma emphasised the importance of the computerised process in maintaining transparency.
Cyber thug held in Gurugram
Gurugram: The Gurugram cyber police arrested a cyber fraudster for allegedly duping hundreds of people across the country of Rs 36.11 lakh. The police have recovered Rs 15,000 in cash and a SIM card from him. Priyanshu Dewan, ACP cyber, said the accused, Raj Kumar, used to commit fraud in the name of online astrology consultation.
