Gurugram, August 22
The Gurugram Police arrested a man from Vrindavan who killed his wife by strangling her. The body of the woman was found in a plastic sack in the Sector 52 area on August 18. The accused revealed that he had committed the murder following a quarrel after he consumed alcohol.
The police sent the body to a mortuary for postmortem. During the investigation, the police identified the deceased as Shaifali Sarkar (27), a native of Malda district in West Bengal. An FIR of murder was registered at the Sector 53 police station.
A team of crime unit of Sector 40 led by Inspector Amit Kumar arrested the husband of the deceased on Wednesday. The accused was identified as Biltu Sarkar (37), who confessed to his wife’s murder.
“The accused revealed that he was an alcoholic and often brawls were broken out between the couple. On August 17, Shaifali threatened that she would leave Sarkar, following which he smothered her with a pillow. After this, he strangulated her to death and packed her body in a plastic sack. He dumped the body in the Sector 52 area and fled,” said Varun Dahiya, ACP crime.
