A fast-track court in Sirsa sentenced a man, Rinku, to 20 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 51,000 for assaulting an 8-year-old boy in February 2022. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months in jail, the court ordered. The case was filed after the boy's father reported the incident to the Rania police.

According to the statement of victim’s father, his son, a first-grade student, went to watch a cricket match in the village playground on February 2, 2022, but did not return home by evening. The family found the boy near the school gate with Rinku, who fled upon seeing them.

Once home, the child complained of stomach pain and revealed that Rinku had assaulted him. The family immediately took him to Sirsa Civil Hospital and reported the incident to the police. Following a medical examination, Rinku was arrested.
