A Gurugram court has sentenced a man to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine in connection with a snatching case. The conviction was handed down on Saturday by Additional Sessions Judge Mona Singh.

The case dates back to April 12, 2022, when a complainant reported an individual, riding a scooter, had snatched his mobile phone in front of the Air Force School on Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road. The assailant fled the scene. Following the complaint, an FIR was filed at the Sector 14 police station and the police arrested the accused after several days of investigation.

The accused, identified as Ankit, a resident of Jamna Bazaar, Kashmiri Gate in Delhi, was taken into judicial custody. The police gathered all relevant evidence and witness statements, which were presented in court.

Based on the evidence, Judge Mona Singh convicted Ankit and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment. Additionally, he was fined Rs 5,000. A spokesperson for the Gurugram police confirmed the details of the conviction.
