Man sentenced to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting minor
A Kurukshetra court has sentenced a youth, Jony, to rigorous imprisonment for life for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the accused.
According to the police, the girl’s father filed a complaint on September 3, 2021, stating that his daughter had gone missing after leaving for school. The investigation revealed that Jony had lured the girl and eloped with her. The girl was found on October 18, 2021, and her statement was recorded.
Jony was sentenced under Section 376-E of the IPC to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life, which means imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life, and pay a fine of Rs 30,000. He was also sentenced under Section 450 of the IPC to undergo imprisonment for 10 years and pay a fine of Rs 20,000. The sentences will run concurrently.
