The woman was identified as Memo Devi (52). Krishan had hit Memo Devi on her head with a hammer over a petty dispute.

Assistant District Attorney Neeraj Rana informed that deceased woman’s son Jagtar Singh -- in his complaint to the police -- had stated that his mother used to work as a labourer in the village.

The eaves of Krishan’s house was overhanging on to the street. Memo had asked Krishan to get it repaired as it was risky. This infuriated Krishan.

Jagtar had further stated that on the morning of May 18, 2022, when Memo Devi was coming home after throwing cow dung, Jagtar saw that Krishan was having a scuffle with his mother. Krishan attacked her with a hammer. She was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead. A case was registered at Saha police station and Krishan was arrested.
