According to the police, the deceased, who was identified as Rohit, had come out of jail a few days ago. More than 10 cases had been registered against him. The police believe it to be a case of rivalry.

The incident took place in the fields behind World College around 4:15 pm on Monday, when unidentified assailants opened fire at Rohit and fled the spot. In the seriously injured condition, he was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
