Man stabbed to death at Ambala Cantt civil hospital
A man was stabbed to death in the emergency block of the civil hospital, Ambala Cantonment, on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Amreek, a resident of Shahpur village.
According to information, the deceased was earlier attacked in the village by some youths, and had gone to the civil hospital for medical examination. But the accused followed him there and attacked him with a knife.
Amreek was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, and died on the way.
His wife said they had gone to the police station after the attack and were asked to get his medical examination done. As they reached the civil hospital, the accused again attacked her husband in which he suffered serious injuries in the neck and stomach.
The Ambala police said the body had been kept in the mortuary and the post-mortem would be conducted on Thursday.
Ambala Cantonment DSP Rajat Gulia said, “The family said that a few days ago, the accused had threatened Amreek following which there was some tension, and today Amreek tried to persuade them to resolve the matter amicably, but he was attacked in the village.”
“Amreek went to the hospital with a head injury to get his medical examination done where the accused followed him and one of them stabbed him. The statements are being recorded and a case will be registered. Our teams are working on the case and efforts are being made to nab the culprits,” he added.
