The Gurugram police seized a total of 762.15 kg illegal marijuana worth crores hidden in an empty house in Nanu Khurd village in the Pataudi area. An FIR was registered and the police is conducting raids to nab the smugglers.

According to the police, acting on a tip-off, a team of crime unit DLF Phase 4, led by inspector Sandeep Kumar, conducted a raid at the house located in the field of the village on Monday.

The house was locked, after which the raiding team contacted house owner Ram Singh, a resident of Daulatabad Kuni village, who allowed in written to search the house. A duty magistrate was appointed and in the presence of village sarpanch and chowkidar under the videography, the lock of the house was broken. The team recovered 762.15 kg illegal marijuana kept in plastic sacks. After this, an FIR was registered under the NDPS Act against unknown accused at the Pataudi police station.

ACP Crime Varun Dahiya said that the estimated value of the marijuana recovered by the police team is in crores of rupees. “The house was empty for some years and the house owner claims that he never rented out his house. We are searching for the accused,” Dahiya said. — OC
